Charities Supported by Previous Nearly New Sales

April 2008 - CLIC Sargent
Every day 10 families are told their child has cancer. As the UK's leading children's cancer charity, CLIC Sargent is the only organisation to offer them all round care and support. This ranges from during treatment, in hospital & at home and after treatment.

September & November 2007 - The Sick Kids Hospital
The Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh receives over 100,000 children through its doors each year, from all over the East of Scotland. We wished to support this charitable organisation as one of the team behind the Nearly New Sales has recently had their daughter expertly cared for by the surgeons, consultants and nurses there.

April 2007 - Crossreach and Bluebell Day
CrossReach is one of the largest social care agencies in Scotland, providing care and support for thousands of people in need every day of the year. The Bluebell Day event that they organise supports their postnatal depression project.

October 2006 - The Rock Trust
The Rock Trust is the Lothian’s answer to youth homelessness.
As a charity it helps over 400 vulnerable homeless and socially excluded young people each year aged 16-25 years in the Lothians by providing…
· supported accommodation, including specific provision for young homeless single parents.
· move-on support to those moving into their own tenancy.
· a volunteer befriending service.
· The Underground: a drop in healthy living centre to help improve the health of young people who are primarily homeless or in temporary and unsettled accommodation.

April 2006 - Brittle Bone Society.
This is a Dundee based registered charity, founded in 1971. It aims to promote research into the brittle bones' diseases and to provide practicel support, advice and encouragement to sufferers of the condition and their relatives.
The society knows of about 3500 people in the UK with brittle bones and BBS depends soley on donations and voluntary support.

October 2005 - Simpsons Special Care Babies.
This Edinburgh based voluntary run charity supports the Neo Natal Unit (NNU) based in the "Simpsons" Maternity unit at the new Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
The charity was set up in 1985 by a group of parents and friends who had babies in the NNU. They were concerned by the lack of adequate resources and support for modern life saving technology and established the charity to work to give every baby in the special care NNU an equal start in life.
SSCB is dedicated to the care of premature or sick newborn babies, and the support of their parents. It is funded entirely from public support through fund raising and donations.
We were delighted to support this charity as we had two mums whose babies had spent time in the special care unit.

April 2005 - Special Needs at Play in Craigmillar.

October 2004 - Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society
This organisation works to support bereaved parents and families, and to press for improvements in care during pregnancy and when a baby has died. The local branch at Craiglockhart received our donation.

The following is not a charity, but they have helped support the Polwarth Nearly New Sales.
