This simulation of the traditional paper-and-glue
activity allows students to explore how the formula for the area
of a circle is derived.
Extension work could include approximating the area
of the re-arranged sectors with trapezia or parallelograms rather
than just a rectangle, depending upon whether the circle has been
cut up into an odd or even number of sectors.
